Dharamshala – Bir Billing Tour Package

Day 1 — Overnight Journey from Delhi to Dharamshala

Distance / Time: ~475 km | 10–11 hours

The Journey: Board your overnight bus from Delhi between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Sleep through the smooth plains of Punjab before waking up to the winding mountain roads of Himachal Pradesh.

Day 2 — Exploring McLeodGanj (The Tibetan Hub)

Distance: Local sightseeing (~15 km driving total)

The Journey: Arrive in Dharamshala by 8:30 AM, transfer to your hotel in McLeodGanj (upper Dharamshala), freshen up and head out to visit local sightseeing of McLeodGanj.

Sightseeing Highlights:

Tsuglagkhang Complex & Namgyal Monastery: The spiritual nerve center of the town and home to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It houses a peaceful temple, beautiful golden statues, and the moving Tibet Museum.

Bhagsunag Temple & Bhagsu Waterfall: A historical Shiva temple featuring a freshwater pool. A scenic 20-minute uphill walk from the temple leads to the roaring Bhagsu waterfall.

St. John in the Wilderness Church: Built in 1852, this Neo-Gothic style church is tucked quietly inside a dense deodar forest. It features striking Belgian stained-glass windows.

McLeodGanj Market: Spend your evening browsing through Tibetan carpets, singing bowls, and handicrafts, followed by dinner at a local cafe (try authentic momos and Thukpa).

Stay: McLeodGanj.

Day 3 — Scenic Dharamshala & Lower Valley Tour

Distance: ~30 km total driving

The Journey: Today you will explore the scenic viewpoints of upper Dharamshala and the iconic landmarks of lower Dharamshala.

Sightseeing Highlights:

Naddi View Point: Head here early in the morning for uninterrupted, panoramic views of the massive, snow-capped Dhauladhar mountain range.

Dal Lake (Dharamshala): A small, calm lake surrounded by towering deodar trees, located close to Naddi village.

HPCA Cricket Stadium: Located in lower Dharamshala, this is one of the most visually stunning cricket stadiums in the world, famous for its dramatic mountain backdrop.

Norbulingka Institute: A gorgeous cultural center dedicated to preserving traditional Tibetan art forms. You can watch artists practice thangka painting, woodcarving, and weaving inside Japanese-inspired gardens.

Stay: McLeodGanj or Dharamshala.

Day 4 — Drive to Bir via the Tea Gardens of Palampur

Distance / Time: ~65 km (Dharamshala to Bir) | 2.5 hours of driving.

The Journey: Check out after breakfast and drive toward the paragliding haven of Bir, making scenic stops along the way.

Sightseeing Highlights:

Kangra Valley Tea Gardens: Drive through the lush, sprawling green tea estates of Palampur. Stop for photos and to sample fresh Kangra tea.

Baijnath Temple: A magnificent 13th-century stone temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It features incredible Nagara-style architecture and is highly revered.

Bir Landing Site (Sunset Point): Arrive in Bir by afternoon and head straight to the open landing fields. Grab a wood-fired pizza at an outdoor cafe and watch dozens of paragliders land safely against a vibrant sunset.

Stay: Hotel in Bir.

Day 5 — High Flying in Bir & Overnight Journey to Delhi

Distance (Bir to Delhi) / Time: ~510 km | 11–12 hours

Sightseeing Points: Paragliding from Billing, Chokling Monastery and Palpung Sherabling Monastery.

The Journey: Dedicate your last day to adrenaline, monasteries and exploring the relaxed streets of Bir before catching the evening bus back home.

Sightseeing Highlights:

Paragliding from Billing: Take an operator's 4x4 vehicle up a winding 14 km mountain road to Billing (the highest take-off point in Asia at 2,400 meters). Strap into a tandem harness with a pilot and experience 15–25 minutes of incredible flight over the valley.

Chokling Monastery: Located right in the heart of the Tibetan Colony, this monastery features a large stupa and a stunning statue of Padmasambhava.

Palpung Sherabling Monastery: Located a short drive (~10 km) into a pine forest, this massive monastic seat feels deeply spiritual and serene.

Departure: Head to the Bir bus stand by 6:30 PM to board your overnight bus back to Delhi.
